Oh this time of year

Last week's two days in the office was a treat, for sure. I don't recall the last time my office-week was ending, as it was beginning. With the weather being so non-conducive for commuting, it was the perfect stay-cation. I still got a lot of work done from the comfort of Michelle's and my humble abode, while avoiding the messy winds and slippery grounds (my office walk commute).

But mentally, I've slouched a bit. Today being the first day back in the office was somewhat of a shocker, but I made it a point to rise early yesterday (Sunday) morning, in order to make sure my body clock was used to it, come this morning. I think I'm ready for the what the week has to throw at me.

But... again we'll part ways early - me and the office-week. Rather than two days in the office this week, it'll be three - but nowhere near the normal five.

This means more mental slouching, but I think it'll be less so, seeing that there will be less parties, and gifts (material objects of distraction) floating around. Also, less cookies, alcohol, and everything else that makes one feel sluggish after consuming too much in too short of a time period.

On a side note, this morning I actually had a full seat to myself on the Metra! This rarely happens on a morning "rush hour" train. It seems many people are out of the office this time of year.

For New Year's Eve, Michelle and I plan to stay in, as the weather, expense, extra DUI patrol, and general amateur-ish effects NYE has on people, make our home much more appealing. We just bought a Wii (I know, we're behind the times), so I can picture fun Wii games being played while enjoying some beverages. Also, we're thinking of eating fondue with meat - it's a Thommes family tradition for NYE, which is also my Dad's birthday.

I then plan to celebrate New Year's on Bermuda time (two hours ahead, to the east), which means I can toast champagne at 10:00 PM, instead of 12 midnight. I can then head to bed early. ;-)

I am just kidding. (Or am I?)
